Healing Begins Here
Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. You may be here because you have finally admitted that you can no longer live this way and I am here to support your healing and growth. Do you struggle with your sense of self-worth? Are your relationships being impacted in negative ways? Are you struggling with food and/or body? Did you have an experience, that afterwards, you were never the same again? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then I am confident in my ability to support you on your healing journey!
*Please Note I am only offering virtual therapy at this time. This is subject to change.
Hi! My name is Adrienne Aguiar (she/her) and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I graduated CSU Channel Islands in 2016 with my BA in Psychology and then attended CLU and obtained my MS in Clinical Psychology in 2018 and my MS in Counseling Psychology (MFT) in 2021. I have always been a “helper” and knew I was destined to be a therapist.
I specialize in working with eating disorders/disordered eating, body image struggles, body dysmorphia, sexual assault survivors, and supporting families during their postpartum journeys!
As an eating disorder therapist, I utilize Health-at-Every-Size, and work from an anti-diet approach. My goal is to heal your relationship with food and body and help you find your self-worth and acceptance within that. I have experience in treating eating disorders in all levels of care (residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient.)
As a therapist I utilize trauma-informed care to support your healing. Together we will come across some skill-based sessions utilizing CBT, CPT, and DBT, however we will spend much of our time together utilizing the space to explore your inner world utilizing EFT, attachment-based therapy, as well as some psychodynamic interventions. My goal is to heal the past. while in the moment to design a future that brings you joy.
About Me:
Individual therapy
I offer individual sessions if you are looking for therapy for yourself. Together we will create goals for your future and meet one on one weekly or bi-weekly, depending on your needs.
Family and Couple’s Therapy
Relationships can play a huge role in our healing journey. When we have meaningful connections and healthy communication then relationships can improve our well-being. I work with all relationships in different walks of life. This is a safe and non-judgmental space to improve relationships regardless of your sexual orientation, gender identity, kinks, and/or types of relationships. I offer family and/or couples therapy to support improvement in connection, communication, boundaries, and reparative work.
Group Therapy
I offer group therapy with the focus on body image and and self-acceptance. I utilize this group to support healing with food and body, while also growing a community for connection. Relationships are important for recovery! The goal of group therapy is to break away from the thoughts that keep us from living our life freely and authentically. Please reach out for more information regarding group therapy.
This is meant to be a safe space for all
As an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, I acknowledge that I have privileges of being a cisgender, white, heterosexual woman. I understand that my personal experiences are different and I keep myself educated in cultural competency and am always learning about other communities and identities. I want all to feel safe here.
